What are Wax Melts?

Wax melts are scented pieces of wax designed to be gently heated to
release their fragrant aromas. They’re like candles but without the
wick, soy wax is a natural alternative to paraffin, providing a clean burn that lasts longer and smells stronger. These crafted pieces of wax can easily be melted using either an electrical burner or a tea light heated burner.

The luxury of wax melts is you get to regulate the quantity of fragrance and
how mild or strong you would like the scent, for a powerful smell you just add more wax to the well of your burner and vice versa for a subtle aroma.

Types Of Wax

Paraffin wax can mostly be seen in candles and wax melts available on the high street. This type of wax releases toxins and fumes which are similar to diesel fumes, have you ever burnt your candle and noticed black soot around the rim of the glass? Well that is the visual sign that your candle is releasing toxic fumes. Here at Aroma Luxe we keep away from this kind of wax and choose the Soy alternative as it is completely biodegradable and sustainable.

Soy wax is a natural product made of the soya bean. it's creamier and softer than paraffin wax. also thought of as a ‘greener’ wax because it produces less carbon when burning than paraffin wax. The main sticking point of soy wax is its sustainability as it is naturally grown and farmed from the soybean. Another great fact of using soy wax is the ease to wash up any wax spillage.

There are variety of other different waxes available on the marketplace for making candles and wax melts, including beeswax and gel wax, but these are not something we use at the moment. Beeswax is another sustainable material we would love to work with in time.
